Mummy examination. Egyptologists studying a mummified body from Deir el-Bahri, Egypt. The mortuary temples of Deir el-Bahri are on the west bank of the Nile, across from the city of Luxor. The burials, which date from the time of Ancient Egpyt, include several pharaohs and other royalty. Those present here included French egyptologists Eugene Grebaut (1846-1915) and Georges Daressy (1864-1938), and French physician Daniel Fouquet (1850-1914). Artwork from the eighth volume (second period of 1891) of the French popular science weekly 'La Science Illustree'.
