South Ferriby cement plant, North Lincolnshire, UK. Now owned by Cemex, the plant has produced cement for nearly 80 years and produces around 800, 000 tons of cement per year. The plant burns two types of alternative fuel. Secondary liquid fuels combine various non-recyclable chemical wastes such as solvents, thinners, paints, inks and residues. Climafuel, developed by the company, consists of household and commercial wastes such as paper, cardboard, wood, carpet, textiles and plastics.
