Nesting gentoo penguins (Pygoscelis papua) tending its eggs on a nest built up from pebbles and loose rocks. This penguin lays two eggs and the parents alternate feeding trips with incubation and care for the chicks once hatched. The white streaks are ejecta of penguin guano. Photographed at Port Lockroy, British Antarctic Territory, on the Antarctic Peninsula.
