Chinstrap penguins (Pygoscelis antarctica) in the steam of volcanic areas that are still warming the beach sand at Whalers Bay on Deception Island, off the Antarctic Peninsula. Deception Island is the site of a flooded volcanic caldera. The chinstrap penguin feeds mainly on krill and small fish. It inhabits the Antarctic Peninsula and nearby islands.
