Caption

ISS viewing portal. Artwork of an astronaut in the Cupola module of the International Space Station (ISS). The Moon and the haze of the Earth's atmosphere are at lower right. The Cupola module is a viewing port that was provided by the European Space Agency and attached to the Tranquility module (Node 3) in February 2010. The six side windows and circular top window allow astronauts to observe the Earth below. Each window has a shutter (open here) that protects them from micrometeorite damage when not in use. The glass is fused silica and borosilicate. There are also controls for operating the space station's robotic arms.
