Heliosphere map. All-sky survey by Cassini of the charged particles from the solar wind making up the heliosphere around the Sun. The heliosphere shape is formed as the Sun moves through the surrounding interstellar medium, with the front marked 'nose' and the rear marked 'tail'. The colour-coding is by energy density (key across bottom). Also marked are the two Voyager space probes (V1 and V2), and the 'ribbon' of charged particles (white outline) discovered by the IBEX spacecraft. Cassini's MIMI and INCA instruments detect energetic neutral atoms (ENA) in the 5,200 to 13,500 electron-volt range. Image published in 2011.
