Ammonite fossil. Fossilised remains of a Pachydiscus sp. ammonite. Ammonites, now extinct, were marine invertebrate molluscs with a spiral shell. This specimen dates from the Cretaceous period (around 145-85 million years ago) and was found at Dinn Cliffs, James Ross Island, Antarctica.
