Gharial anatomy. India on rivers such as the Ganges. At upper left is the open-belly aspect of its anatomy. These illustrations are by the British naturalist George Edwards (1694-1773). This page is from volume 49 (1755-6) of the journal 'Philosophical Transactions', published by the Royal Society of London. Edwards was elected a Fellow of the Society in 1757.
