Lyme disease research. Laboratory mouse with ticks in a capsule on its back. The ticks will infect the mouse with Lyme disease, caused by various Borrelia bacteria. The mouse will then be dissected to examine the effects of the disease on its internal organs. Symptoms include neurological and cardiac abnormalities.
