Robert Swinhoe (1836-1877), British naturalist. Swinhoe worked worked as a consul in Formosa (Taiwan). During his travels in South-East Asia he discovered and named many birds, several or which are named after him. This portrait is from the 1908 jubilee supplement of the ornithological journal 'Ibis'.
