Soldiers with tropical fevers in hospital during the Philippine-American War of 1899-1902. Fevers in the tropics if not treated can be fatal or extremely debilitating. Such diseases in this location include dengue fever and malaria. These are soldiers are in a hospital in Manila, lying on beds under a porch roof. This photograph, from circa 1900, is by the Underwood and Underwood company.
