Car engine oil dipstick. This dipstick is used to measure the level of oil in the engine of a motor car. Oil is used in car engines to lubricate the moving parts. If the amount of oil falls below a minimum level, the engine will start to overheat and could seize up and break down. The markings on the dipstick range from L (low) to F (full).
