Gas contraction experiment. Demonstrator carrying out an experiment to demonstrate the changes in pressure caused by heating and cooling a gas. An empty metal can has had a little water added, and this is being heated with a bunsen burner flame. Steam is emerging from an opening on the top of the can. The heat source will then be removed and a stopper placed in the opening. As the water vapour in the can condenses, and the air inside also cools, the pressure inside the can will drop and it will crumple due to the external atmospheric pressure.
