Infant healthcare, early 20th-century artwork. Nurse caring for young infants and babies in cradles in a maternal institution in France in 1900. Milk bottles are at lower centre. Institutions like this were a public health initiative proposed in the late 19th century to counter the high rates of infant mortality. Artwork from the 26th volume (second period of 1900) of the French popular science weekly 'La Science Illustree'.
