Oceanic subduction zone process. Diagram showing the geological processes that occur at a subduction zone between two tectonic plates. This is a destructive plate margin. The plate on the right is being pushed below (subducted under) the other plate, melting the lithospheric rock as it enters the mantle and leading to the formation of a volcanic island arc.
