Chemical explosion. Cork exploding out of a bottle of sparkling wine. There is no wine. The cork has exploded out due to an increase in pressure due to the production of gas in a chemical reaction. The reaction is between aluminium chloride and sodium carbonate, producing carbon dioxide gas. The same gas is produced when shaking a bottle of champagne or any other carbonated (fizzy) drink, though then the gas is bubbling out of solution. Gases take up far more room than liquids or solids. It is this rapid expansion of gases that causes the massive destruction in chemical explosions from materials such as dynamite or TNT.
