The terminal stem is supported by the receptacle (blue) surrounded by a rosette of leaves, or bracts, that enclose the club-like antheridia (purple) amongst the surrounding paraphyses (pink) - long rows of cells full of chloroplasts. Magnification: x37 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
