Brent goose flock in flight. These are pale-bellied Brent geese (Branta bernicla hrota), flying over a frozen salt marsh during a snowstorm. This goose, which has several subspecies, is native to the Arctic. It migrates south in the winter, inhabiting coastal areas and feeding on eel-grass and sea lettuce. This flock, from Svalbard, was photographed near the island of Lindisfarne, Northumberland, UK.
