Nickel. Vial containing a sample of the transition metal Nickel (Ni). Nickel is a silvery-white, hard, ductile, metal in the iron group. It is slow to oxidise at room temperature and so is considered resistant to corrosion. It is most often used in alloys with other metals, notably in stainless steel. It is also used in rechargeable batteries, catalysts and plating.
