Two copper oxide reactions. Heating copper oxide with dilute sulphuric acid results in a blue solution of copper sulphate (left). The reaction is: CuO + H2SO4 -> CuSO4 + H2O. Heating copper oxide with dilute hydrochloric acid results in a green solution of copper chloride (right). The reaction is: CuO + 2HCl -> CuCl2 + H2O.
