Black-crowned night heron and prey. Black-crowned night heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) with a fish it has caught. These birds are found throughout a large part of the world, except in the coldest regions and Australasia. Like all herons, they wade in shallow water, catching fish and other water animals using their long beak. Photographed in Hungary.
