Venus transiting the Sun. Telescope image showing Venus (black disc) transiting in front of the Sun on 8th June 2004. Venus appears as a prominent black disk, as it is facing its night-side towards the Earth. Venus transits are extremely rare, the next ones taking place on 5-6th June 2012, 11th December 2117, and 8th December 2125.
