Surface of Rhea, Cassini image. Rhea, the second-largest of Saturn's moons, consists of about a quarter rock and three-quarters ice. Its surface is heavily cratered, with the central craters seen here around 3 to 10 kilometres across. It is thought that Rhea has a faint ring surrounding it. This image has been generated using stereo topography software to view data obtained in 2008 by the Cassini spacecraft that is in orbit around Saturn. The blue areas are thought to be where ice on the surface has been exposed after material from Rhea's ring hit the surface along the equator. This may be the first direct evidence of the suspected ring.
