Blood glucose test. Nurse using a glucometer to test measure the amount of glucose (sugar) in a patient's blood. A small sample of blood is taken from a prick in the patient's finger, and placed on the strip (centre, white) of the glucometer. The reading here (5.9) is within normal tolerances. An elevated reading would suggest that the patient is diabetic.
