Blood flow in tadpole tail. Differential interference contrast microscopy showing the flow of blood through a capillary in the tail of a common toad (Bufo bufo) tadpole. The horizontal field of view is 170 micrometres. The tadpoles were unharmed by this procedure, and were released back into the wild.
