Radioisotope. A bottle containing molybdenum 99 (Mo-99). This isotope, found as the molybdenate ion, decays through inverse beta emission with a half life of 2.75 days to the metastable technetium-99 (Tc-99m). Tc99m is used as a gamma ray source in many medical applications, including bone scans and brain imaging.
