This illustration shows endoscopic ultrasonography-guided celiac plexus neurolysis, one of multiple methods to ease the pain in pancreatic cancer. The endoscope is introduced orally and once the celiac plexus is located via ultrasonography, the celiac plexus is injected through the stomach wall with a neurolytic agent that destroys nerve fibres and produces lasting pain relief for pancreatic malignancies.
