Iron test. Iron (III) solution (yellow) being compared to ferric thiocyanate (red). Ferric thiocyanate is the result of the reaction between iron (III) and potassium thiocyanate. This colour change (from yellow to red) can be used to indicate the presence of iron (III) ions in an unknown solution.
