Caption

Pale fork-marked lemur (Phaner pallescens) on a tree trunk. All lemurs are endemic to Madagascar, where they evolved in isolation from other primates after Madagascar became geographically isolated from Africa. This lemur is nocturnal. It feeds on plant sap, tree gum and nectar that it extracts with its long tongue.
