Human skull research. Researchers measuring and noting the dimensions of a human skull. This specimen, and the others at left, are part of the collections held at the Musee de l'Homme (Museum of Man), Paris, France. This museum is one of the departments of the French National Museum of Natural History (MNHN). Anthropologists from around the world (here, from South Africa) travel to this museum to carry out research. New 3D digital imaging techniques are making models of such skulls and fossil specimens more widely available, reducing the need for such trips. Photographed in 2010.
