Cro-Magnon fossil skull, endocast model. Researcher working with a 3D scan of the inside of a Cro-Magnon fossil skull using the cloud of points technique. This data will be used to study the structure of its brain. Cro-Magnons were an early European culture of modern humans (Homo sapiens sapiens). The skull cast at far left is Yunxian Man (a specimen of Homo erectus). This work is being done by the Initial company, based in Annecy, France. Techniques used include selective laser sintering (SLS) and stereolithography (SLA). The fossils are from the Musee de l'Homme (Museum of Man), Paris, France. Photographed in 2010.
