Cro-Magnons were an early European culture of modern humans (Homo sapiens sapiens). The Cro-Magnon 1 collection of specimens, which includes the skull of an elderly male, dates from around 28,000 years ago. They were found in the Dordogne region in southern France in 1868 (this date is marked on the specimens). Photographed in 2010, at the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN), Paris, France.
