Parasitic protozoan. Differential interference contrast micrograph of a parasitic Metaradiophrya sp. ciliate protozoan. This parasite lives in the guts of earthworms and is covered in tiny hair-like structures (cilia) which it uses for locomotion. Magnification: x230 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
