Oak gall larva. Darkfield contrast micrograph of a larva of the Neuroterus quercusbaccarum gall wasp. This wasp lays its larvae in the leaves of oak trees, forming galls (growths), where the larvae overwinter, emerging in the spring. Magnification: x90 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
