Zygospores that resulted from conjugation of the filamentous Green Algae Spirogyra. In this sexual reproductive process, adjacent cells fuse and exchange genetic information. Zygospores can withstand harsh conditions and can be spread by the wind. Spirogyra often forms floating masses of pond scum. DIC LM X250.
