The spectra of a number of gases. Each spectra of the pure element is unique. These unique spectral lines allow the identification of the elements. Each color band corresponds to a specific energy of photon released by electrons jumping to different energy levels. The elements from the top to the bottom are: Bromine, deterium, helium, hydrogen, krypton, mercury, neon, water vapor, and xenon. Note the similarities betweent the water vapor and deterium and hygrogen.
