Rocket pioneer Tsiolkovsky and family. Russian aviation and aerospace pioneer Konstantin Tsiolkovsky (1857-1935) laid is best known for his visionary work and predictions concerning space travel, and he is considered one of the founding figures of rocketry and astronautics. Here, he is with his wife Varvara Sokolova, who he married in 1880. They had seven children, including a daughter Maria Tsiolkovsky-Kostina (lower left). Three grandchildren are at lower right: Zhenya, Lesha and Musya Kostin. Standing in the background are Vladimir Kiselev, and Vera and Viniamin Kostin. Photographed in May 1932.
