Magnesium reacting with an acid. Hydrogen gas being produced from a test tube from the reaction of magnesium metal with hydrochloric acid. The other product of this reaction is magnesium chloride. The chemical equation for the reaction is: Mg + 2.HCl => MgCl2 + H2. Magnesium is a very reactive metal, and large amounts of gas and heat are being generated here.
