Caption

Female red-veined darter dragonfly (Sympetrum fonscolombii) taking off from and landing on its perch. This dragonfly is found throughout Eurasia, but has only been found in more northern parts relatively recently. In warmer areas it is seen year-round, although it is a summer insect in northern regions. It is usually found near water, over which it hunts for smaller insects in flight. Filmed in Denmark.
