Holmium. Sample of holmium (Ho), one of the lanthanides or rare earth elements. It has a melting point of 1461 degrees Celsius. It is a soft silvery-white metal. It has the highest magnetic strength of any element, and is used in magnets. It is also used in solid-state lasers and nuclear control rods.
