Nuclear waste. A storage yard for low-level irradiated components from nuclear power plants. Although not directly used as part of a reactor, other components such as storage tanks and cooling systems gradually become irradiated and are classed as low-level waste. After some years their radioactivity decays to a point where the steel may be recycled safely. Photographed in Murmansk, Russia.
