Prosthetics. Doctors and engineers watch a patient test a powered prosthetic hand. Early prosthetic hands were electrically powered, triggered by nerve impulses detected on the skin. Usually this was translated into a simple grasp/ungrasp action. Photographed at the Central Research Institute of Prosthetics and Prosthesis, Moscow, in 1972.
