Romney sheep. These sheep, a breed of the domestic sheep (Ovis aries), are farmed for their wool and meat. The Romney breed, also called the Romney Marsh, originated in England but since the 19th century has been exported to many other countries, including New Zealand, Australia, and the USA. The heavy Romney fleece is used extensively in the production of carpets and rugs.
