Shoulder muscles. Computer artwork of an oblique anterior view of two of the muscles (red) of the shoulders and their attachments to the bones of the chest, back and upper arms. The deltoid muscle wraps around the shoulder, running from the clavicle (collar bone) and the acromion of the scapula (shoulder blade) to the deltoid tuberosity on the humerus (upper arm bone). The large pectoralis major muscle runs from the clavicle and sternum (breastbone) to the intertubercular groove on the humerus. The left-hand side of this view includes joint ligaments (white). The muscles at left are semi-transparent to show underlying bones.
