HeLa cells. Multi-photon fluorescence light micrograph of a group of cultured HeLa cells, showing the cell nuclei, which contain the cells' genetic information (DNA, red), golgi apparatus (green) and microtubules (beige). HeLa cells are a continuously cultured cell line of human cancer cells. They are immortal and so thrive in the laboratory. HeLa cells are widely used in biological and medical research. Magnification: x1000 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
