Light microscopy of a rotifer feeding. Rotifers are tiny animals with a ring of cilia around its mouth at the head end, which they use to ingest bacteria, algae and organic detritus. The majority are found in fresh water, and they are very common and widespread. Filmed using Differential Interference Contrast illumination.
