Tuberculosis (TB) testing. Close-up of an immune system response test for TB being carried out at a clinic by injecting tuberculin into the skin of a patient's arm. TB is an infection by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It usually infects the lungs and can cause severe scarring. TB infections can be diagnosed and treated at dedicated clinics. If the infection is not completely eradicated, then drug-resistant forms can develop. It is usually treated by a course of antibiotic drugs, often several taken in combination. Photographed in the UK.
