Mantoux solution, tuberculosis (TB) test. Mantoux solution (containing tuberculin) from this vial will be injected into the skin of a patient's arm to test for TB by the immune response. TB is an infection by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It usually infects the lungs and can cause severe scarring. Once diagnosed, a TB infection is treated by a course of antibiotic drugs, often several taken in combination. If the infection is not completely eradicated, then drug-resistant forms can develop. Photographed in the UK.
