Spreading apart (divarication) of the recti muscles in the midline of the abdomen above the navel in an adult male patient. Each abdominal rectus muscle usually meets in the midline, but a congenital defect may result in a wider gap between them, so that when they are flexed the muscles spread apart (divaricate).
