Caption

Milky Way nebulae in Cassiopeia and Cepheus, infrared image. Large numbers of nebulae (red, green and yellow) occupy this area of the sky, within the plane of our galaxy the Milky Way, in the constellations of Cassiopeia (left) and Cepheus (right). The Heart and Soul nebulae are at far left. This image is from NASA's Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE). The colours show wavelengths of infrared light. Blue and cyan represent 3.4-micron and 4.6-micron light emitted from stars. Green and red represent 12-micron and 2-micron light from dust and gas nebulae. Image published in 2012.
